I'm back...

Apologies for the lack of posts in the last half a year, rather the complete abandonment of this blog, but I am back. No excuses, I shouldn’t have vanished without a trace.

A lot of things have happened in the last 6 months or so, I landed a new job, got engaged and tried to do way too many things at once. I just got back from Singapore on Monday night and was inspired to jump start this blogging adventure once more. November 20th, 2010 is the big day, about as big as it comes really.

The missus suggested blogging about the things to do, place to go and food to eat while our family and friends are here. This space is their guide to Perth when they are free from their obligations at the wedding. Most people seem to think wedding preparations are the hardest and darnest thing to do, I mean, how hard it be? Right?

While you would expect me to start blabbering about the things to do, place to go and food to eat right about now, I say, hold that thought. I did say earlier I was trying to do way too much for my own good. I have to complete my online classes before the missus gets back in about 3 weeks time. Till then, or till the next moment blood rushes to my head, watch this space. I am back, meaner, bigger and better than before. Have a great 2010!! Cheers…

Food Exploration

I have a totally legit reason for the lack of posts in the past couple of weeks. I went to explore Western Australia. From wine tasting to seafood dinners, I had a fantastic time and am pleased to report that I had some of the best meals since setting foot in Perth. I shall start with the meals I tried and loved in the last couple of weeks.

I reckon the best meal I had was in this little watering hole down at Margaret River; at a place called "Settlers' Tavern". I ordered this meal called "Reef and Beef" or was it "Beef and Reef". Well, you get the point. Its a steak with some seafood. It was awesomely yummy! For the first time, I actually ate and enjoyed the fats on my steak. At a close second, and I mean real close. It was this grilled fish I had down by Freo. I believe it was called Kailis' Seafood. It was fresh and grilled to perfection.

The highlight of it all had to be this ice creamery that we discovered en route to Margaret River. Called Simmo's Ice Creamery. I am a huge gelato fan and less so of ice cream, but this one really converted me. So much so we went back again when we were coming back.

Writing this is making me salivate. Perhaps I shall head down south again on ANZAC Day long weekend. Apparently, Simmo's has an outlet in Mandurah, then maybe I can pop by Kailis' again, and go for the chili crab this time? Or some lobsters? Hmmmm Yummm....
